Weathering With You Stays at #1, The Great War of Archimedes Debuts at #3

sold 3 million tickets to earn more than 4 billion yen ($36.7 million) in its first 11 days.

The film ranked #1 in its opening weekend.

The film earned 28.6% more in its first three days compared to Shinkai's previous earned 1,277,960,000 yen ($12.51 million at the time) in its first three days. The Eiga.com website estimates that the Weathering With You film's earnings will sur 10 billion yen ($93 million).

The film opened in 359 theaters and 448 screens in Japan on July 19.

The live-action film The Great War of Archimedes) manga sold 202,000 tickets and earned 265 million yen ($2.43 million) to rank #3 in its opening weekend.

The film opened last Friday, July 26.

Stand By Me Doraemon directed and scripted the film, and also directed the visual effects for the film.

The Kamen Rider Zi-O Over Quartzer and Kishiryū Sentai Ryusoulger The Movie double feature collectively sold 194,000 tickets and earned 246 million yen ($2.25 million) to rank #4 in their opening weekend.

Tokyo Ghoul S dropped out of the top 10 in its second weekend, but still earned 35,742,400 yen ($328,200) from Friday to Sunday, for a cumulative total of 220,563,600 yen ($2.02 million).

Free! ~Road to the World~ Yume (Dream) earned 32,310,600 yen ($296,800) from Friday to Sunday in its fourth weekend, and has earned a cumulative total of 308,768,500 yen ($2.83 million).
