James Cameron's Avatar Film Sequels Delayed, Expanded to 4 Films

Entertainment news website Deadline James Cameron's planned trilogy of sequel Avatar films will now be four planned sequel films. Cameron also said that the first sequel be released around Christmas in 2018 with sequels following around Christmas in 2020, 2022, and 2023, respectively. Cameron made the announcements at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

The first sequel had been delayed until late 2017 before this most recent delay.

Cameron had originally Jon Landau are producing the project.

Deadline did not report if Cameron made any comments at CinemaCon about whether he delay and expansion of the Avatar films will mean further delays for the Alita: Battle Angel film.
